Holiday game?
I'm sure that during these holiday you are missing players or GM/DM for your usual game.

I would like to run a Sci-Fi campaign. Not necessarily long but benefiting from the availability to get "new" players.

The setting would be intergalactic empire in the neighborhood of Star Wars, Star Trek, Foundation, etc for the technology level. I would use the Star Wars WEG 2nd edition (D6)

I'm in Hull (yes I do play in English) and am actually pretty mobile if you prefer this happening somewhere more convenient. My schedule is pretty flexible for the holidays.

Any volunteer?

I'm also open to other suggestion (including being a player in any other settings).

What Should I Run at CanGames 2009? Poll
Seeing as how CanGames, 2009 is coming up in about six months, I've just put up a poll on my blog for people to help me decide what to run this year at the convention. However, I'm only giving folks two choices for this one (based on reasons explained in the post). If you live in Ottawa or are planning to come up to CanGames, please vote in the poll. Even if you're not, please vote in the poll. :)

What to Run, What to Run (CanGames 2009)

Thanks, all. :)

I attack the darkness!
The website I work for just released this subtitler game, so I thought I'd share my geekness with the world. This is only one of the ones I've made... this thing is like crack.

Getting Started
Hi.  I just moved to Ottawa, and I'm looking to either get a gaming group started or join one already moving along.  I like more creative and role-play oriented rpgs.  I used to DM for a smallish group of people back in Winnipeg, and all of us really enjoyed it.

When I DMed, I broke out my own rules that my players all agreed to beforehand, and things went smoothly.  Things like more violent combat - where players suffered bleeding and ongoing damage from even standard weapons, and an expanded critical chart to include specific body parts instead of just double or triple damage.

In any case, the gameworld I created is a sort of early-renaissance place.  The ubiquitousness of Everburning Braziers and Torches make steam power come around sooner rather than later, and most towns have electric streetlights.

Of course, the invention only came about less than one hundred years ago in the gameworld's past, and therefore many dungeons may not have electricity.  There are some that do, and that makes stealth less of an option.

Is anyone looking to create a new group?

Help! :)

I'm running an event this Thursday and our costumer bailed on us. Does anyone know of, or have Medieval outfits - I really need 2 outfits for women (size 11/12 and size 16) and for a gent who would be happy in a monks costume. Any culture or period in the Middle Ages is good.

Email me:

Thanks so much!

So apparently I am a maintainer of this place now.

That was sudden and surprising.

So, what should we do with this community?

Calling All Ottawa Artists!
Looking to Meet other imaginative Ottawa Artists to collaborate, discuss and network with?

Want a regular place to bounce ideas off your creative equals?

ethernal and I propose:

The Ottawa Art Group!

We want to have a regular (every other week, for example) meeting place for local artists to
get together, bounce project ideas off each other and actually work on those projects with like-minded people.

Have a story/setting you want to develop, but need some outside advice?

Looking for an artist to illustrate your words?

The The Ottawa Art Group is the club for you!

All are welcome, photographers, illustrators, animators, filmmakers, writers, painters, modelers and so on!

We're still trying to think of a good place to meet up, so all suggestions are welcome!

Another idea would be to have regular "Gallery Showings" wherever we decide to meet!
Once a month showcasing the things the Group Members have created!

Reply here or contact ethernal or I individually if you're interested/have questions/have ideas!

I just started a community called The Creativity Network, wherein I hope that many people I know and those I dont can come together and share their creative ideas about everything. Come join and show us how creative you can be, or feel :) Its for sharing your creative thoughts, for getting inspired, for letting thoughts grow in the ripe field of discussion and cross polination of the imagination.

Hey There Roleplayers,

My friend and I are wanting to start a game up, but first we would like to meet some people interested in playing.
What we are proposing to do is have a meet and greet in a neutral area, which we have selected to be the Terrace on top of the Rideau Center, where we can meet and chat for a bit, and everyone can easily grab a drink or whatnot from a nearby store. The day of meeting is this Sunday which is convient for both of us, a time is not established yet, but probably in the afternoon around 2-3.

So if you're interested, leave a comment and let me know.

Hey There Everyone
Hey everyone, I wanted everyone to post how long they have been playing, and what games they have been playing, etc.

8 years total  experience playing Vampire, Werewolf, Mage, Rifts, AD&D Second and Third Edition, and MUD's.
My favourite of these is probably Vampire and the MUD's, specifically yhe one I play now.

Hellooooo Nerdtown!
Heh, NerdTown.

I jest, cause I love.

I have this little setting that i've been developing since oh... the dawn of time.

And I want to start up a game in it.

I've got a wee bit of a website for it, very dry:

Its what ya call steampunk, and I still haven't decided on the system, though i'm leaning towards a very stripped down version of GURPS, just for its flexibility and relative simplicity.

Spread the word around, i'd like to get some fresh blood into my gaming group, and I'd like to get started very soon.

This isn't just roleplaying, its developing the setting as well, so creative people required! :)

Hope to hear from you folks soon!
